WORLD’S LARGEST CORVETTE SALE AND SHOW
Bloomington Gold Corvette Show & Auction in Illinois

ImageSt. Charles, IL, May 14, 2007 ─ Buyers, sellers and car enthusiasts will descend on the Pheasant Run Resort on June 15 – 17 for the Bloomington Gold Corvette Show and Auction.  This double-header car show and auction attracts people who want to see the world’s most desirable Corvettes and have a chance to bid on one of these dream machines.

The event, spread over three days, offers potential buyers and those who just want stroll among a sea of beautiful Vettes a perfect way to satisfy their Corvette cravings.



For the first time, the auction will begin in the afternoon, offering evening entertainment to Bloomington Gold’s daytime show.  At 3 p.m. on Friday, June 15, Mecum will host the collectible Corvette sale, followed by the investment grade Corvette sale at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 and the ever-popular “Sunday Driver” Corvette sale, aimed at the weekend warrior enthusiasts, which begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 17.

Image“This is the event that paved the way for every Corvette auction in the world,” said Dana Mecum, president of Mecum High Performance Auctions. “The Bloomington Gold event is the pinnacle of Corvette judging, so you know the cars up for sale have passed muster with thousands of the most discerning collectors in the world before you buy.”

This year’s auction will feature millions of dollars in Corvette royalty, including:

Image•    The Paul Jones Collection: The C-1, or first-generation Corvette, is often called a dinosaur, hailing from a time when the vehicle was a true roadster without side windows. This year’s sale will feature certified ‘53, ’54 and ’55
Corvettes from the famed first years, all crossing the block on Saturday.

•    The ZR-1 Collection: A series of six, brand-new ZR-1 Corvettes, known as “King of the Hill” versions of the C4-era Corvettes, from 1990 to 1995. Never sold, these untouched beauties still have the window sticker attached. They will be sold as a group on Saturday.  

•    A 1967 Corvette Convertible: Dubbed the #1 Corvette and #1 Most-Collectible Muscle Car of All Time, this beauty should fetch somewhere around $400,000 when it goes up for sale on Saturday.  The legendary Stingray-bodied Corvette, which is black with a red hood stinger, was also formerly owned by famous Corvette collector Roby Price.
