Frankfurt, Germany (September 10, 2007) -- The new Peugeot 308 RC Z concept car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show but unlike most concept cars this one can be driven. That is, sort of. All you need to do to take a spin is log into the Second Life 3D virtual world on 11 September and head over to Peugeot Island.
Your Second Life avatar can then climb on board this new spearhead of the Peugeot Brand and take a journey on a racetrack in a 3D concept car.
Peugeot Island was designed to make it possible for "Second Lifers" to discover the 3D concept car that won the fourth Peugeot Design Contest but attendees at the Frankfurt Motor Show can also see a full-scale model on the Peugeot stand.
Second Life has become an addictive phenomenon that’s populated by 9 million avatars. At any one time there are on average 30,000 people logging in. These virtual world citizens are spending about US$7 million per month (source: Linden Lab 2007) as they work, shop and play in this digital landscape. This activity has attracted more than 7000 companies who host sites, stores and activities.
If this sounds intriguing, there are two paths you can take to launch your visit to the Second Life Peugeot Island: visit Peugeot's Frankfurt Motor Show website (http://www.peugeot-iaa.de/indexEN.html ) where you will be able to discover all of Peugeot’s new products, including videos such as the film of the 908 HDi DPFS at Le Mans and the TV commercial for the new Peugeot 308 (being aired starting September 20). There’s even a 308 RC Z screen saver. The other way is to log on to www.secondlife.com directly in your Web browser.
Enjoy the race and remember there are no speeding tickets in a virtual world.
