More new cars shows will be lighting up the airwaves. Automotive programming has become a staple for channels worldwide and ESPN2 is hitting the accelerator with both feet.

Image“Metric Revolution” a Motorcycle build-off reality show launched at 11:00 EST on March 31st. Metric Revolution’s debut episode showcased custom motorcycle builders Brad Ruel, Steve Kehler and Tommy Graves.

The “Metric Revolution” covers a custom motorcycle competition that pits 22 of the nation's top builders.  They each take a stock metric import motorcycle and transform it into a show-stopping marvel of engineering. Each episode follows the lives of these artists as they square off to be #1 in each of their classes.

The audience gets a behind the scene preview of the featured builders every week.  They have a chance to email cast members, see the bikes built on the show and keep up with who will move into the finals and who will be riding home. The series producers guarantee the most talented builders of custom cruisers and custom sport-bikes and a group of "rookie" builders will create some of the most radical custom sport-bikes and custom cruisers on the planet.

This week marks the debut of Mother’s Car Show as part of the ESPN2 Garage programming block. This show is intended to work with ESPN’s racing coverage from NASCAR, IndyCar, Champ Car and the NHRA. The ESPN2 Garage programming block has its sights clearly set on the automotive, motorcycle and motorsports world and has committed to air more than 1,100 hours of motorsports programming in 2007. This high revving formula is something that the SPEED Channel has proven attracts motor loving guys.

In addition to motorsports, there will be factual series joining the Mother’s Car Show. Viewers will be offered an array of new episodes of tried and true programming and several new series. They’ll see The Bidding Wars, Car Wars with Funkmaster Flex, Hot Rod Television, Metric Revolution, P.I.P.E.S, and Stacey David's GearZ starting on Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, with replays to air on weekday afternoons the following week. A new episode of the ESPN2 Garage program SpeedFreaks will air at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 12.

Mother’s Car Show takes a look at cars, bikes, trucks, sport compacts and street rods. The deciding factor is that it must have wheels and an engine. This gives the crews the license to roam the country from Ocala, Fla., to Omaha, Neb., to shoot stories on all kinds of vehicles they encounter. The first episode airs at 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 11, and features the Mothers Shine Awards from the SEMA show in Las Vegas where celebrity judges crowned a “the absolute best.” Another episode airs the following day at the same time.

A new episode of SpeedFreaks, taped in Nashville, features NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Casey Mears and NHRA POWERAde Drag Racing Series driver Brandon Bernstein. These SpeedFreaks talk about Toyota’s entrance into the top levels of NASCAR, with show host Kenny Sargent who gives the media his opinions.

Hot Rod TV jumps into the ESPN2 Garage line up on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET. The first episode opens the doors on a rare collection of Mopars and talks to Mopar enthusiasts all over the country who explain Mopar mania. They follow this with a previously-aired episode at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.

P.I.P.E.S
Also on Saturday morning, at 10:30 a.m, look for new episodes of P.I.P.E.S. First up is Team Blue Collar getting ready to race a Mustang against a Mazda 3 driven by SCC Racing. We’ll see if the wild American pony car can beat the import. Like Hot Rod TV, the episodes get a second run at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, and 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 12.

Stacey David’s GearZ is next up at 11 a.m. Saturday, and we see David exploring what happens when the quintessential poor man’s sports car, the Mazda Miata, is crossed with the he-man’s car, the Shelby Cobra. Something Shelby did himself when he wedged a V8 into a Sunbeam and called it a Tiger. When David tears into the Miata to up its ponies with a V8 he calls the little stallion the Banshee. It’s the same name John DeLorean chose for his dream car Corvette beater that became the Firebird. This show will be repeated at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 16, and once again they’ll roll out a previously-aired episode at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.

A fresh episode of The Bidding Wars airs Saturday at 11:30 a.m., with a look at a replica of a classic Duesenberg trying to gain some stature on the auction block. Bidding Wars comes back with another new episode on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. In this we see a seller hoping to get his money's worth out of his 1937 Cord as it hits the auction. A previously-aired episode will be shown at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11.

Car Wars with Funkmaster Flex
Also, on Sunday, there’s a new episode of Car Wars with Funkmaster Flex making its debut at noon. We see someone break the rules and be confronted by another contestant. There’s missing parts, family problems, and a search for a NASCAR sponsor to liven up the storyline of the car builds. Flex is slated to make a surprise visit. I guess it’s not a surprise now. An second showing is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 16.

Metric Revolution airs at 12:30 p.m. with a look at 22 of the country’s most notable motorcycle builders in a unique competition. Sort of an Iron Chef meets West Coast Choppers. Hold the mayo and pass the wrench. It starts off with Mike Dusold, Dennis Vazquez and Dana D’Oench competing as they build some wild custom bike. The episode will be repeated at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 16.

While everyone has become familiar with the Barrett-Jackson auction telethons Chatham, Ontario based, RM Classic Car Auctions is another outfit that has been gaining a reputation for producing high-dollar sales through a mix of large interesting collections that they bring to market and smaller lots. They’ve also built one the best restoration operations in the world. ESPN2 bring us onto the auction floor as RM hammers down the sales starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. We start off with a look at the glamorous scene in Monterey, Calif., where a dizzying number of beautiful classics, sports, muscle and exotic cars can sell for out of this world prices. Don’t worry they can’t see if you raise your hand in the living room. Viewing is free and who knows you may win the Lotto and this could be a vital part of your education for spending that windfall.

All in all, there’s plenty here to get any car lover’s motor running.
