The 1st Annual Corvettes for Chip event took place this past Sunday, November 11th in historic Kennett Square, PA. The Corvette Club of Northern Delaware and the Keystone State Corvette Club co-hosted the event with all proceeds being donated to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation was formed to raise money for the research, education and awareness of amyloidosis, a disease that took Chip Miller’s life in 2004.

The inaugural event raised more than $2,500 from the 18 Corvette clubs that showed up that day to show their support. With a great turn out of more than 170 Corvettes and hundreds of attendees, the show is certain to be held again next year.

Chip Miller’s interest in automobiles began when, as a child, he saw a magazine in a gutter with a custom car on the cover and he soon became fascinated with Chevrolet Corvette after seeing an ad for a new 1957 Corvette. Chip Miller’s passion for Corvettes has been widespread and he is still recognized as one of the most influential innovators of the Corvette hobby for collectors and fans alike.

Chip Miller played in integral role in the creation of the Carlisle Events, which is the first company in the United States, organized specifically to conduct and promote events for the collector car and truck hobby.

Carlisle Events was the brainchild of Chip Miller and Bill Miller, Jr., two friends with the same last name, who put Carlisle, PA on the map with their first show in the fall of 1974, called Post War 74, which later became Fall Carlisle Swap Meet and Car Corral. The two founders’ sons, Bill III and Lance took over the day-to-day leadership of the company earlier this year.

Carlisle Events now hosts 10 annual collector car, truck and motorcycle events, which attract more than half a million people to its 82-acre fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania each year. Included in the annual events schedule are two huge automotive swap meets and auctions – in the spring and fall – and individual specialty shows featuring Corvettes, Fords, GMs, Chryslers, trucks, motorcycles, sport compacts and imports.
