 duPont Registry Shows Resurrected American Icon
by Michael Rose LOS ANGELES – Hold on to your Daisy Dukes and get ready for some tire squealing, good ole boy chases, the original General Lee car seen in the opening credits of “The Dukes of Hazzard,” has been restored. The iconic star car has been brought back to its original state, though a few scars remain, including a crack in the windshield incurred when it jumped a police cruiser during the opening credits.

DEARBORN, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Henry Ford, America’s premiere history destination in Dearborn, Michigan has acquired the first steel-bodied school bus, Blue Bird No. 1, it was announced today by Patricia Mooradian, president of the institution. Blue Bird No. 1 was the first steel-bodied school bus built by Albert Luce, Sr. in 1927. Luce was the owner of Ford dealerships in Fort Valley and Perry, Georgia when one of his customers requested a vehicle to transport workers to a cement plant.

by Michael Rose Mercedes-Benz was on top after a sparkling finale to the 1955 racing season. Its powerful Silver Arrows were unbeatable in 1955. Mercedes-Benz dominated both the blue-ribbon Grand Prix races and the exacting long-distance races, the year ending in an impressive haul of titles for the motor sport department. Juan Manuel Fangio secured the Formula One World Championship, while the 300 SLR delivered the constructors’ crown for Mercedes-Benz in the sports car category. The Stuttgart-based brand also claimed the European Touring Car Championship and the Sports Car Championships of both Italy and the USA. No manufacturer had ever exerted such a grip on the different disciplines and classes of car racing, from Formula One to diesel sedan competition.
