It’s that time of year again when the automotive world gears up for the
mother of all U.S. motoring events: the Monterey Peninsula Car Week
held each August.
Among the foremost celebrations of automotive design and performance
that week is the Quail Motorsports Gathering, and with that, the
Bonhams & Butterfields auction of important collectors’ cars.

Maranello, Italy--Car enthusiasts and Ferrari collectors from across the globe descended on Maranello, Italy this past weekend for RM Auctions’ second annual “Ferrari Leggenda e Passione” auction event to witness a new auction record established for a 1961 Ferrari California Spyder formerly owned by actor James Coburn.
The rare car exceeded all expectations by selling for a world record auction price for a vintage car at auction in the amount of $10,894,900 U.S., surpassing the previous record set at Sotheby's Monaco in 1990 for a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO at $10,756,000 U.S.

 Green American Premium Sports Car Company Gets Ready for 2009 Delivery
by Michael Rose Irvine, Calif. -- Initial vehicle testing and fine tuning the battery software management system for the Fisker Karma is underway for this high-end plug-in hybrid production car. The initial test track developments are taking place in Southern California.
The company revealed that three Fisker Karma prototypes have been built, and are currently undergoing testing for the electric powertrain developed by Quantum Technologies. Concurrently, the Fisker Automotive engineering team is working on crash test simulation. Further validation and certification on the vehicles will be performed over the coming months.
