San Francisco, CA – June 7, 2007 – Summer's almost here and the time is right to hit the road. Being a road warrior doesn’t mean you can’t sleep in your own bed with a view of the stars and enjoy a meal at your own table while surrounded by natural beauty – all without sacrificing style and comfort.
After 75 years of building the most iconic travel trailers on the planet, Airstream has partnered with Design Within Reach (DWR) to produce a special edition that will be available nationwide this month. Just in time to join the thousands of dedicated adventurers who’ve kept over 60% of the Airstreams ever built on the road as they go “where others only dream of traveling.”

The Design Within Reach Airstream is a logical step for both companies. Airstream founder, Wally Byam Creed, was a believer in fusing form and function in his aviation inspired designs to open up the world to adventurous caravaners. DWR has earned its reputation for capturing the essence of modern designs and making them accessible.
Chris Deam, the award-winning architect and designer, was commissioned by DWR to create the $49,066 special edition Airstream trailer that blends innovative design elements with practicality, both inside and out. The goal was to provide users with a stylish way to travel, or something that can even be used as a campy extra room that you can park at home.

After 75 years of building Airstreams these travel trailers have become an American legend that can be found in the Smithsonian Institution, The Henry Ford Museum and in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art as well as in the lobby of MTV, and on movie sets.
President John F. Kennedy chose an Airstream as his mobile presidential office and NASA selected an Airstream trailer to house the first astronauts back from the moon. NASA still uses Airstream motorhomes as an integral part of the space shuttle program.

You won’t be alone if you buy one. The Wally Byam Caravan Club International (WBCCI) is 10,000 member-strong and holds nearly 1,500 rallies annually. They can be found at Airstream-only campgrounds, used as traveling medical facilities, and of course, cruising into the sunset.
The Airstream special edition joins DWR’s other licensed classics, from Herman Miller®, Cassina®, Knoll®, Stua, Kartell, Flos, Fritz Hansen, Emeco and legendary designers like Charles and Ray Eames, Le Corbusier and Eero Saarinen.
Clearly this Airstream will let you follow your dreams up into the mountains, down to the ocean, through the desert and into the city in style.
